Job Title: School Garden Construction Specialist

Overview:

C-PREP/Wind River Food Sovereignty Project is a 501c3 nonprofit that supports community food production, Native producers, and farm to school activities on the Wind River Reservation. We are seeking a knowledgeable and skilled School Garden Construction Specialist to join our team during summer of 2025. This role involves expertise in constructing raised garden beds and providing guidance on garden maintenance specifically tailored for school environments. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of various gardening techniques, plant care, and sustainable practices. 

This position will work closely with the Farm to School Coordinator, as well as school administration and staff. The successful candidate must demonstrate strong work ethic, excellent communication skills, and effective organizational abilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with schools to design and build school gardens for 4 school districts on the Wind River Reservation

  • Construct raised beds, fencing and watering systems

  • Haul soil and other materials necessary for garden setup and maintenance

  • Aid schools in creating maintenance plans and plant care 

  • Set up and maintain drip irrigation systems to ensure proper watering of the gardens

  • Work closely with Wind River Farm to School Coordinator to hold one workshop at each district

  • Assist with care for the school gardens through September, 2025

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience in building raised garden beds, gardening, landscaping, or horticulture

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills

  • Strong knowledge of plant care, garden design, and maintenance practices

  • Knowledge of necessary tools and equipment for building gardens, and beds. 

  • Previous experience in gardening Building or landscaping

  • Be a team member, and work with other people. 

Requirements

  • Must have a valid driver's license and a clean driving record. 

  • Own vehicle is required for transportation to and from work sites. 

  • Previous experience in gardening building or landscaping is a must. 

  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs

  • Must be able to work on school grounds

  • Ability to work outside during summer for long periods of time.  

  • Skills using the necessary tools and equipment needed to build raised garden beds

Compensation:
Hourly wage: $22-$25/hour, 32 hours/week
