Organization Overview
The Center for Popular Research, Education and Policy (C-PREP) DBA Wind River Food Sovereignty Project is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing Indigenous Food Sovereignty by supporting sustainable food systems, cultural revitalization, traditional ecological knowledge, and community well-being. Our mission is to build a resilient local food system designed by and for the communities of the Wind River Reservation. Our programs expand community food production, support Native-owned food businesses, and promote educational opportunities.
Position Summary
The Project Manager and Grants Specialist will lead management and tracking of a FY24 $4.2 million subaward for the Recompete grant from the Economic Development Administration, in collaboration with Wind River Sage Fund. The position will work with C-PREP and Wind River Sage Fund to hire new positions, hold project staff meetings, manage financial tracking, and create and implement strategies for evaluation, data collection and reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Management (60%)
Lead the planning, implementation, and evaluation of programs and initiatives under the Recompete food sovereignty subaward.
Collaborate with community partners, Elders, and Knowledge Keepers to ensure culturally grounded project delivery.
Assist in coordinating timelines, deliverables, and logistics for events, workshops, and field activities.
Facilitate regular team and stakeholder meetings to ensure alignment and accountability.
Monitor project budgets and track expenditures in coordination with the finance team.
Prepare programmatic reports, updates, and success stories for internal and external stakeholders.
Grants Management (40%)
Manage grant reporting processes and ensure compliance with funder requirements.
Track deadlines and maintain an organized grants and reporting calendar.
Support impact measurement and data collection for reporting and evaluation.
Support staff in development of measurement tools for other food sovereignty projects.
Required Qualifications:
Proven experience in project management, project coordination, or program evaluation (experience in community-based, Indigenous, or nonprofit contexts encouraged).
Demonstrated success in grants management.
Excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Knowledge of or lived experience with Indigenous communities, food sovereignty, or decolonial frameworks.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in cross-cultural settings.
Proficiency in project management tools and software (e.g., MS Office, Google Workspace).
Commitment to uplifting Indigenous knowledge and traditions.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience managing federal grants.
Bachelor’s degree or 3 years of experience in food sovereignty, health, or community organizations.
Strong understanding of Indigenous perspectives on food sovereignty, cultural identity, and traditional foods.
Proven track record in project coordination, grant management, and budget management.
Demonstrated ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders, including tribal governments, funders, and community members.
Experience working with Native communities
Compensation:
Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience. Benefits package included.
Salary range: $58,240 - $63,500
